One of my neighborhood friends brought me a packet full of stamps- torn from envelopes, collected over generations, squirreled away for their imagined value or memories perhaps. Funny how most of us would now rather have the letters inside the envelopes, the handwritten thoughts more and more precious as we move farther away from the pen and ink tradition of letter writing.

Today I am planning my trip to the post office with the tea mouse packed up and ready to send off to .... Jill ....whose comment was selected at random. She named her Fiona. I cannot tell you how touched I was to read your thoughtful comments, heartwarming and sometimes heartbreaking. I loved your fantastic names for the red-eared mouse with a pearl nose- and will look at this list many times in the future, so much inspiration and imagination in the suggestions. Thank you all, especially those readers who have not commented before. It is wonderful to know you are there, every one of you. xoC

Congratulations Jill. It was fun to read all the wonderful names everyone came up with. Clarice

I am thrilled beyond measure to have won a sweet mouse made by you, Charlotte! Thank you so much!!! Fiona will always have a home with me, most likely in my studio where she can keep an eye on all the creative goings-on. I'm sure she'll be happy there!

I still have my great-grandfather's stamp collection....somewhere...? It's consists merely of a bunch of old stamps lumped together in an undignified manner in a plastic bag. Probably not the presentation that Grampa had in mind. Oh, and there are some 'first day covers', whatever those are. They look like blank envelopes with stamps on them.

Maybe someday soon I'll mount a bunch of them into a nice frame so we can enjoy them :)

I was drawn to your blog because we share the same first name. I'm glad I found it. I love the heart made of stamps. It's so unique.
Have a great day!

Ok, that banner is absolutely Charming!

Congratulations Jill! I wish you and Fiona many happy, creative moments together.....

What wonderful stamps!

The image brought back such wonderful memories of sitting with my Grandmother, turning the pages of her stamp collections and listening to her stories of where they came from and who had sent them to her.
Thanks Charlotte!

Yay, Jill! Fiona will have a nice new home. I love the stamps and find myself ripping off the canceled stamps to save. A handwritten note is becoming rare and thus so precious, even the stamps are sweet reminders of gentler days.

How poignant. I love this!
