picture perfect
Busy getting ready for our village's annual historic house tour tomorrow. It's a fundraiser and every dollar counts so we'll have a table of souvenir and gift items for sale. Homemade cookies and lemonade too. After a quick how-to, several ladies and I decoupaged glass plates with copies of postcards from the archives of the Historical Society. Beautiful vintage images of our town landmarks and the Hudson River. The 1910 postmarks are from the same post office I use now.
Our plates turned out really well and we all enjoyed the evenings spent making them. Something like an old-fashioned quilting bee, small town fun with neighbors and a bottle of wine. Wish us luck tomorrow, hope for afternoon sunshine - and that we sell them all. Otherwise, we'll probably each give them to ourselves for Mother's Day. xoC

Those are wonderful! Wish I could take the tour!! xo

Those are just so pretty. How much fun you must have had putting them together. I don't think you will have any trouble selling them, what a nice keepsake. I would love to be there & sample the cookies & lemonade.

Those are absolutely gorgeous, Charlotte! What a great idea for a 'souvenir' of your town. It sounds as if you have a fantastic community there.
I would love to be entered in your drawing for the packet of laces, ribbons, & such....what a dreamy tidbit!!!

Now thats history. In Vegas I am thinking we might not have an original post office still up - they tend to blow up old buildings here - and those are like 40 years old.
Love the square plate shape - really makes it.

Charlotte now you've done it!
I've been homesick for the Hudson Valley for quite some time now! With a thick winter blanket of snow, I've felt housebound with an infant here in Connecticut, but I do believe THIS IS THE WEEK to bring my wee little one for her first stroll through Cold Spring and a glimpse across the river to the chapel where her mommy and daddy were married at seven years ago!!!
Thanks, and enjoy those lilacs while there sweet fragrance lasts!

Decoupage is one of my all-time favorite crafts...and the idea to utilize this technique to showcase some of your local pretties was a great one! Love the square plate idea too. Where did you find them?
Hope the fundraiser went well!
