Once again, I've stayed away a little too long.
It's a favorite time of year for wandering. Everything seems to have slowed down just so we can savor those last bits of color, light and warmth.
An early morning visit to the farm.
In to the city for an evening walk on the High Line.
I love September and all its golden to green.
By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer’s best of weather
And autumn’s best of cheer."
- Helen Hunt Jackson, 1830-1885

I'm rushing into fall. Today, I removed the milk glass, cherry motif plates, and other summery collectibles from Grandmothers hutch, and put out my brown transferware and my mother's blue hobnail glassware. I am admiring the cloth I see underneath the nectarines...a good match for my glassware. I need to find some fabric that will work with that special color of blue.
That zinnia embroidery is so vibrant...is that something you found or something you stitched?

September is a lovely month - not quite summer, not quite fall. A good month to wander, indeed.

I too love summer. It is my birth month and we tend to go to the Oregon Coast to celebrate our anniversary before it turns cold. The weather is fantastic, Warm days and cool nights. Add in the colors and I wish it would last a few months longer. I haven't been reading daily, there is too much to fit in before the snow flies. Wishing you a beautiful September.

Adore the quote, Charlotte!
I realize that I must move! I must have access to a meadow and nature walks like you and Alicia P.! :)
I am totally envious. Nature is such a soother for the worried soul.
I used to work two blocks from the beach and would take my lunch down and sit on a bench and watch the ocean. Such a spirit lifter.
Happy walkabout!
