Last week I was so happy to finally meet up again with Rebecca and Pam for a little beach time before we taught at French General and the Art of Craft. California was beautiful, but goodness, it was so, so cold. Colder than New York for sure. Seemed like I wore all my clothes all the time. Didn't matter. The sun was shining, the territory was new and the friends were so sweet. Who cares about freezing feet?
We made art, shared inspirations and wandered around beaches and towns in the area of Santa Barbara.
Pam brought lots of art materials. We each had our stitching.
Kits were finalized for class. (I was excited to use my new collection Tilly in my class this time.)
Beach walks.
Thrift and scrap hunting.
Wine, paints and visits from our friends, Syd and Mary.
At last we left the little cottage by the sea and headed off to French General for our classes.
I love teaching. Especially here. Amazing students. Coolest store. Kaari, Molly and Mogull put on a fantastic weekend. For me, it was a little reunion of France. And always the best time.
Thank you to every one of you who made our little getaway memorable. It was so good!

What a fun time you had! Thank you for sharing. I love the photos......almost like being there for a moment.

What a wonderful way to celebrate the New Year - good friends, fun, stitching, and the beach. Thanks for sharing your trip. Hope you have warmed up. It is still cold here in the Northwest.

Certainly nice to hear you had such a great trip to the west. Don't you just love Santa Barbara? We don't get there often enough, but sure do enjoy it when we do.

Thanks for sharing images of your trip to California. That ocean water must have been exceptionally chilly !
I have a question about your 'thrift & scrapping ' photo - the appliqué piece - with the bands of brown connecting the flowers - were these bands meant to be cut and then the flowers & leaves sewn onto fabric or was the piece intended to be used whole? Thank you and I truly enjoy your blog!

Sounds like you had a wonderful time with wonderful friends. Looks like some fun creating too. Isn't that area of California fantastic. Sorry the weather was cold. Happy Weekend.

I went to CA for the first time with my husband on a business trip in the spring a couple of years ago. I'm thinking it's going to be spring in California! Wonderful weather! Ahhh....froze. Wore everything in my suitcase plus bought more thick tights besides. Oh well, the rest of your trip looks delightful!!
