Our dear, beloved Jake passed away last night ... in my arms in the back of the car as we rushed to the vet. We are heartbroken. I know that some of you are too. Thank you all for your many kind efforts to comfort us, some with words that will stay with me forever. It is my wish that he picked up a new path and found his way to my dad and my brother. They would be so lucky to have each other.
I am so sorry you have lost such a good friend. It is good to know he was so well loved.

I thought this was already posted so forgive me for repeating.
We lost one of our best pals last night in Charlotte's dog Jake.
I think I met him about six years ago when he and Charlotte were walking by my house in Irvington. I was on the front porch with my beloved black lab, Ben.
Ben got very excited and ran out to greet Jake.
While they were "checking each other out", I introduced myself to Charlotte.
The rest, as they say, is history. I knew that day they would become close pals to my family.
We fondly referred to him as a "push button" dog who would do pretty much anything you ask for some petting.
God Bless Jake. I hope he finds Ben to play with again.

I recently found your blog and I am so sorry to read about beloved Jake. Our time with our furry friends is so short. You were lucky to have each other. Jake will be forever in your heart.

Charlotte, I am so so very sorry to hear about your beloved Jake. God bless him and you. My heart is heavy in knowing the pain that you are going through. When I lost my 16 year old doxie, who also died as we held him to say goodbye,my heart broke and part of me went with him. I,too, pictured my Dad who had passed on years ago, scooping my "baby" up and caring for him for me. I SO understand what you are going through .. only time will make you feel better. And you will.. but in the meantime, please know how MUCH we care and we are hurting for you. I'm just so sorry.
xo,
Kim

Oh Charlotte, this just breaks my heart. I'm glad he isn't going to suffer anymore, but...I don't think we are ever ready or prepared to let go of them. I know I'm know, and yet I know that I too will face this one day. You and yours are in my thoughts and prayers.

Charlotte-
I am so very sorry about your boy. I had a few tears reading about Jakes passing. We all know from your posts how much he was loved and he most certainly loved you back.
I'm happy that he was able to stay through Christmas and spend time with the whole family. I'm sure that it meant so much to all of you and obviously to Jake too or he wouldn't have put forth the effort.
God bless you all and know you're in my thoughts.
Warmest regards and much sympathy.

So very, very sorry for your loss. It's been 14 months since my little Zoe passed on. I still miss her dearly. The vet sent me a little card with her paw print and her name and her life dates. So very nice. I'm getting ready to frame it....finally....it's taken this long for me to be able to deal with it.
Hugs to you and your family.

Charlotte, My shock and surprise at this news is only overshadowed by my extreme sadness for your loss. I know how the loss of a pet feels and my heart goes out to you with strength, love and support at this very sad time. Rely on your memories of sweet Jake to sustain you and hopefully time will heal your heart.

I have been reading your blog and must send my condolences to you and your family. My dog, Winston, passed away at the age of 8 nearly 4 years ago. I will never be over it. Dogs are angels who bless us with their constant love while they are with us. The only comfort I had when Winston left us was to know that he was being greeted by his buddy Star and by my brother. I am so sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry, Charlotte. I've been there and I know how hard it is. People who love their furry friends as deeply as we do, are at a disadvantage when it is time to say goodbye but just think how much better Jake's life was having lived with people who considered him part of the family, rather than just a pet. He was blessed to have had you as his family and you were even more blessed to have had the privelidge of sharing a home with such a warm and loving dog. I know his spirit will always be with you.
