Cartagena.....edit: The photo is from our walk-through visit to the Santa Clara Convent, now a luxurious Sofitel hotel. Built in the 17th century, I believe the ceiling is inlaid with mother-of-pearl or some kind of shell. Whatever it is, the effect is spectacular... as is most of the walled port city in Columbia.

So, this post card is really cool, can you inlighten me a bit on what the white stuff is? Any idea's. It almost looks like someone has taken chalk and drawn on the ceiling?
