What beautiful photos. I just want you to know I recently found your blog and it's like reading a good book. (BTW Love your book Between Friends) Hope your mother is doing better each day.

What a lovely day...would have loved to have seen all of those vessels. Great should post some close ups of the architecture.

Happened upon your blog. Loved the post about the Hudson, since I grew up in Stony Point, NY, and my husband in Haverstraw (where the river is about 5 miles wide).

In the late 60s and early 70s my father and I used to launch onto the River in a vintage wooden motor boat (well, it wasn't so vintage then) and quite recklessly just zoom around, zipping across the swells left by the Dayliners out of NYC, heading up to the old Mothball Fleet of about 200 ships that was anchored near Bear Mountain. We had great times.

For YEARS I have told people that the Hudson flows in two directions, but they never believe me--not even my husband who grew up in a house right on the river!

Thanks for mentioning that!

HI! Am totally enjoying your blog. Tipped off to read it when you mentioned in your profile that you lived in a green house on the Hudson river. I was born, raised and have always lived in the Hudson river valley (Hyde Park/Poughkeesie region) and a bit obsessed with the river myself and feel blessed to here. I love your part of the river--
such spectacular scenery! Love your crafting spirit too! ~K
