For awhile now, I've been trying to finish my stitch book started for my students at Squam. No reason to rush except that it's a pleasure to work on. Like knitting, it fits in my handbag and is work-able in most situations.
Freehand flowers on linen stitched in the car on the way back from Indiana in May.
I'm fond of old textiles, wool, pearl cotton, french knots and chain stitch. And white on white- or nearly so.
Backstitch meandering on a last little scrap of wool blanket.
Threaded running stitch (fun!) attempted on the way out to IU.
Feather stitch is my favorite go-to stitch. Double feather below.
Bullion stitch (far right) ... essentially a long french knot.
Little bits and a lost nametag I made for Squam, misplaced and then it surfaced too late. Almost finished. Might have to make another stitch book for summer. It's here.
that's just yummy...gorgeous

Charlotte, I like taking lace and trimming and using it for accent. I wish I took the time for more sewing. Did get lucky recently and purchased an old Singer machine with cabinet for 35 dollars! Mint condition!!! I thought there must have been a zero missing from the asking price as it is beautiful with the metal etched plate on the front...debbie Found a button kit that goes with it the other day for 3 dollars! Great finds!!!
Your work looks beautiful!!!

Thanks for sharing your sweet stitches! This reminded me of a little hand stitched piece I collaged while sitting in a waiting room with a friend. It was a special day and my hands were busy with what my heart held. I will always cherish that little thing! Hopefully your book holds some of your heart while gathering up your daughter and bringing her home. Bet so! Thankyou, thankyou for all your inspiration! XO
