Took awhile, but Mo and I managed the big dig on our own yesterday. It was actually kind of fun- sharing the job with her, carving a starter path and chipping away at the drifted snowbanks. After being indoors for so long, it felt really good to be outside, lifting something heavier than a fork.
The wind was crazy every now and then. Seemed like it would undo all the work, but it was so pretty watching the snow spray sideways in the sunlight. The hawks enjoyed the day, circling the woods and riding the updrafts. Seemed like everyone stayed indoors as they were asked to - or spent their day quietly shoveling out.
Even the mailman got the day off.
Here is a link to the NYTimes' reader-shared photos from around NY. Some truly spectacular images of NYC and the Big Snow of 2010.
The snow completely bypassed us. I remember having to shovel mounds of snow...it's now just a memory. Although you never know in these parts.
With you in spirit ;)

Hello Charlotte,
I can't believe the snow over there!
We had none...the streets look pretty clean...it was very cold these past days with -25 Celsius though...They are calling for rain now to end the week. Crazy, isn't it?

Nothing as dramatic as Minnesota;-) But, then, we also hired someone to shovel!
Hugs,
Suz

Lots of shoveling here too and the wind is still howling away. But the snow is so lovely and white that it's worth it. xox Corrine

I can't believe the crazy weather we've had lately! Here in Michigan, it went from a sunny 48 degrees yesterday to 20-something today. I like to get cozy inside with some great craft project and my two dogs when the weather gets cold.
I'll be looking forward to seeing your charming projects in 2011. I hope to visit more often. It's always a pleasure!
