Honestly, I didn't know Vermont was that close to us. It's a mere three and a half hours away through the prettiest rural counties and towns on the back roads of New York. Years ago I met Meleen at Silver Bella and got to know her at other events too, Mary's workshops in Saint Louis and the ones I hosted here in New York. Such a lovely, generous and delightful friend! She always said that one day we would all get together for a girls' weekend at her cottage in Vermont.
Our classic New England weekend of wonders included Kana, Suzanne, Danielle and Hope.
A celebration of the end of the end of summer.
And the beginning of real autumn.
If you get the chance, visit southern Vermont. It's so incredibly beautiful and charming. Even better, discover it with an adventurous gang of sweet new friends.
Thank you, thank you, dear Meleen!
6 hours for me but still a favorite destination! Great company only makes it better, so glad you had a wonderful time on your girls weekend!
I am interested in the sampler you posted because that is my maiden name! I am curious what the sampler says and where it is from. Do you happen to have a full pic or do you think Meleen would send one to me. So little info on my Dad's side,I am always grateful for a piece of history to help us figure it out. (Besides, I LOVE samplers anyway!) Thanks!

Autumn in Vermont...what could be more "autumny" than that? Zinnias, and mums and all the rest of Vermont's natural beauty. One of my favorite vacation destinations.
Surely that sweet puppy could have hidden away in your weekend bag and made a little trip to NY? Oh so cute.

What a splendid time you must have had. Lovely pics of Vermont. I would love to visit sometime. We have a new puppy. He's so cute, but is he ever a handful. Happy Monday!

The cosmos remind me of my grandmother. She always planted a big batch of them near the pear and apple trees. Thank you for sharing your trip with us. I've always wanted to visit, if not live in, Vermont. And they had out puppies to boot! :)

I visited New England 30 years ago and I loved Vermont. The white church spires and the gorgeous leave left a huge impression on me. How could you resist that puppy?!! Adorable!

22 yrs ago I chose Vermont and New England as our honeymoon destination...only wish it wasn't the muddy season we had to go in, but still LOVED it. The charm, the little villages, covered bridges, the nature...wish I could return for an Autumn visit.

Serious? You actually left without that fluff muffin? BTW where exactly were you in the photos? I'm a Vermonter now living in NY but we are planning to relo back there sometime. We were more North, tho.
