I enjoyed reading the interview. I too have painted needlepoint canvases. It's fun to adapt something and then stitch it up. I find inspiration in old postcards. A number of years back I found some adorable rabbits that I painted on canvas, stitched, then framed. They are still some of my favorites, and hang in my craft room.
