Waking up in Vermont on a cold morning knowing that a dozen excited women are arriving from all over the country is a sweet and thrilling moment. Meleen and I are truly grateful that this event has been so well-received and such a happy success. Again, it was amazing. Love watching the women meet each other, form first-time friendships, let go of the world and its tangles, get into the craft groove and then just have so much fun. So much fun!
This time Meleen and I taught them how to rug hook. A new craft has its challenges, but they took to it like experts.
The craftroom lights and laughs filled the air late, late into the night.
And the breakfast bell rang early.
No one slept in.
We did it all. Rug-hooked, decoupaged, made books, explored town and the local scene, ate and ate and then ate some more.
(No, we did not ↑.)
Our sweet friend Tammy brought the farm to us with fresh eggs, her fabulous pies, just-baked scones and home-spun knitting wool. She showed us how to make beautiful felted wool soaps from her friend's goats milk soap (made just for us!) and we loved learning that process.
There was a fantastic, over-the-top sharing of thoughtful handmade gifts, a birthday celebration. More laughter. Always another pie.
Too soon, a reluctant parting. I do think everyone went home feeling refreshed, inspired and loved. I know I did.
Our next getaway will be May 29 to June 1.
Only 12 spots. Details to come.
Write to us at fallvermontgetaway{at}gmail.com to be on the notify list.
And Saturday will be the Sponsor Gift Bag Giveaway post! Couldn't have done it without them!
Love reading about your weekend. Loved being able to share time with you all, too! What a gift you give the folks that come together. Tireless and inspiring - that's you!

What a wonderful get away - a gift to one's self. Just yesterday I was digging around in the bookcase looking for inspiration for a winter project and I saw your book. The rug hooking jumped off the page and I dug out my supplies. I am hoping to get them done before the 14th. Serendipity!!!

It looks like it was a perfect weekend. I have got to teach myself how to hook rugs. The felted soap looks adorable too. What a great idea.

The weekend was such a treat. Such attention to detail! Beautiful setting, lovingly prepared meals, thoughtful outings and inspiring crafts. But what made it so special were the open hearts who gathered there. Forever memories!

Thank you for an absolutely marvelous weekend! I still haven't allowed my feet to completely touch the ground! Everything was wonderful. Our fabulous hostesses, scrumptious food, delicous baked goods, FuN crafts, glorious surrounds and a delightful group of kindred spirits who's hearts spilled open with joy and laughter. Thank YOU! Can't wait for an encore! XooX

A quote from your book Charlotte really spoke to me about our Vermont weekend together. It is: There was a definite process by which one made people into friends, and it involved talking to them and listening to them for hours at a time - by Rebecca West. Being in this enviroment, with such creative, kind womem was priceless. Thank you Charlotte, Meleen and John you are the best!
