Given the interest in New England's autumn weather and colors, we are hosting two weekend sessions of our getaway this time. The theme will be Houses. More to come on that later.
Additionally each weekend features a guest artist.
The first weekend is September 18-21. Loretta Marvel of Pomegranates and Paper will share some of her techniques for sketching and watercolor painting.
And the second is September 25-28. Nina Bagley of Ornamental will share some of her techniques for jewelry design and mixed media.
Here's the agenda.
*12 guests arrive on Thursday afternoon to Meleen's side-by-side vintage farmhouses in southern Vermont. Come by car or fly in and out of Albany airport (an hour away). We provide pick up and drop off within a window of time. (Details on that after we confirm your spot.)
*Thursday night cocktails on the porch, Meleen's home-cooked welcome dinner, guest artist presentations and craft room lights on until someone turns them off.
*Friday and Saturday: Home-cooked breakfast on the porch or in the great room. Art and crafting begins after breakfast. Delicious, seasonal sit-down lunch. The afternoon offers time to adventure locally or continue making. We generally visit Tammy's Wing and A Prayer farm at some point. Porch drinks and dinner. Another pie or two. Crafting lights on until ....
*Sunday: Last breakfast and pack up for heading home.
Here is a recap of last year's fall weekend.
And the winter event.
And the spring event.
Everything is included except for personal purchases and travel costs. 12 guests plus Meleen and me. New friends, old friends. Memorable fun, good food, adventures, crafts and more. For more information, please write to us at fallvermontgetaway(at)gmail.com.
We'd love to hear from you!

Sounds lovely but I know it will be expensive - that's why there are no prices mentioned.

Hi Jane- It's actually very affordable! For as little as 207. per night, a guest is treated to a long weekend in a private home that includes everything we can think of - airport pick-up/drop-off, delicious home-cooked meals, cozy, comfortable lodgings, artisan instructed crafts, easy friendship, local adventures, sponsor gifts and great, great fun!
All during peak season in New England.
More than half our guests have returned more than once. Happy to send you more information if you'd like.

I have been very fortunate to treat myself to Meleen and Charlotte's Craft Getaway weekend two times and have plans of returning in the fall. The weekend is like a weekend of crafting at a bed and breakfast...only better! Meleen's homes are charming and beautiful...and her cooking is FANTASTIC! Charlotte is a delightful teacher with a charming personality. All of the women who attend are creatively gifted in one area or another and we learn new things from each other. Many of those of us who have attended have formed true friendships with the other ladies...as well as friendships with Meleen and Charlotte. The weekend is one full of laughter, friendship, great food, and fun!! It is pampering worth every penny spent! I hope you will be able to attend...you will not be disappointed! If you are on InstaGram...check out my feed and look at the journals I made for myself about the weekends. ;)

My cousin and I had met and then followed Charlotte for several years when the opportunity to gather in Vermont came about. After three Getaways, I can highly recommend this event. You will find a welcoming home, enjoy excellent food and learn and create with kindred spirits. Unlike other events I've attended, this opportunity allows crafting as much or as little as you want. Personally, I love being able to focus on crafting at all available hours instead of quitting at 5 pm because the event is over for the day. Meleen is a gracious host with some mad cooking skills. You will feel so welcome and quickly appreciate the excellent food and fellowship. If you can, GO!
